Denesoline-BCIT Renewable Energy Stakeholders Meeting

Updated: Sep 12, 2019

On September 9th, 2019, stakeholders in the Lutsel K'e renewable energy project spearheaded by Denesoline Corporation and the British Columbia Institute of Technology met in Burnaby, BC to discuss the next phase of the project.

A source-agnostic energy management system will use real-time data and advanced A.I. learning to balance renewable and stored energy and make predictive decisions based on historical trends and current data. Upon completion, the project will grant the community of Lutsel K'e near complete energy self-sufficiency using 100% renewable sources, which will drastically reduce the environment impact of powering the community.

The initial phase of data collection has been complete, and the front-end engineering design (FEED) study has been approved. The technology and resources available was the topic of discussion, and the energy sources were narrowed down to low-head hydro, solar PV, and hydrogen storage cells. The estimated date of completion for the project is Q3, 2022.

Denesoline representatives were present to voice the aims and aspirations of the community, regarding issues such as environmental concerns, energy costs, power capacity, and job training for running the system.
